The twist

One match at a time. The moment you match, your swipe feed locks until that chat ends. You have 24 hours from the match for either of you to send an opener from our deck (no plain "hey"), then 24 hours to answer it, or the match expires. Once you're chatting, you get 7 days or 40 messages, whichever comes first, before you both decide whether to meet for a date. While you're locked in, other people can still find and like you. New likes wait in the Likes tab, revealed with an Undivided Plus subscription.

Swipe right on Amara to match. The feed locks and a 24-hour clock starts. Send a message, tap "Match replies", then skip ahead to reach decision time. Or use End chat to unlock the feed. On the Likes tab, tap "Reveal with Plus" to unlock hidden likes.

Personality

Tap the sides of a profile photo to flip through photos, or tap the arrow for the full profile. Like a single prompt with a comment. After a match, the first message must be an opener from the deck, such as "If you were a fruit, what would you be?". Shuffle or filter by category, and add your own answer to go first. Sign-up now asks for a prompt answer and quick This or that picks. In Profile, open "Edit profile" to add prompts, a voice intro, This or that picks, first-date ideas, a texting style, an anthem and your own highlight colour.

24 hours to break the iceNo "hey". Either of you picks an opener from our deck, like "If you were a fruit, what would you be?", within 24 hours of matching.

24 hours to answerOnce an opener is sent, the other person has 24 hours to answer it or the match expires.

Then decide: date or not?After 7 days or 40 messages, you both privately choose whether to meet. If you both say yes, plan the date in the app.

End it kindly to move onEither of you can end the chat at any time. Your feed unlocks, and likes you got while chatting are waiting for you.

No ghostingIf a chat goes quiet for 3 days, it closes automatically so nobody is left waiting. You'll get a reminder after 2 days.

Real people onlyEveryone passes a video selfie check, and new photos are checked against it. Report anything off and our team reviews it within 24 hours.

Not feeling it? You can end a conversation at any point if someone isn't right for you. You never have to wait for a timer or a message limit.
